Hello Readers! Today I am bringing you a green meets greenish beauty blogger collaboration between myself and the wonderful Jade over at Nephriticus.com
. Jade is one of my favorite green beauty bloggers–and now she’s a youtuber too! (Check her her channel here
.)Jade and I are each reviewing a product and then doing a giveaway where one lucky winner will get both products! In each of our posts, we’re answering 4 questions to create a mini review of our picks. Check out the Q and A below and then ENTER THE GIVEAWAY
1) What are you giving away?
I selected Deciem Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1.00%. (CAIS)
2) What made you choose this product?
I first read about Deciem CAIS on Caroline Hiron’s blog. The founder of the Deciem, Brandon Truaxe, did Q and A on Caroline’s blog in an effort to explain his line NIOD (Non Invasive Options in Dermal Science). What caught my eye is that he said if you use one product from the line, it should be CAIS because it focuses on skin health. This caught my attention because he isolated one thing as opposed to pushing everything in the line. I didn’t purchase at that time, but once I started seeing it pop up in my Instagram feed, I went back to her post and reread it along with all of the questions and answers in the comments section. I then did some reading on peptides in skincare. CAIS utilizes Copper Tripeptide GHK-Cu. This is a peptide that is involved with skin healing, anti-inflammatory responses, collagen synthesis and more. I recommend taking a look at the blog post that first piqued my interest (there’s no point in my reiterating it all) and do read down to the comments section, because Deceim’s founder answered many of the readers’ questions. Here is one of his answers about CAIS’s approaching “the root cause instead of individual issues. I will highlight this approach in CAIS. CAIS contains 1% pure copper peptides. Copper peptides are in human plasma and attract copper in to allow tissue repair functions. While the level of copper in our system stays stable as we age (and is diet dependent also), the level of copper peptides drops by nearly 70% into our 60’s. So the copper is actually available in the body but cannot be taken in to be used for ongoing repair of small things that are constantly going wrong (stress, hormones, pollution, sugar levels, etc.). By supplementing copper peptides, we’re focusing on the support of skin health instead of targeting a specific issue.”
So the idea is that our skin is always in need of a little repairing from the environment, our diets or perhaps in bigger need of repair. Now this is made in a lab–it’s not the usual green beauty item that I try, however it seemed worth checking out. I should also mention that this got me on a copper kick, so I know also own an Illuminage pillow case, which is copper infused. I’ll be reviewing that soon too. This product is a very watery serum that you make yourself–sorta. It comes in two bottles. You combine the activator and serum which is then housed in dark glass bottle with a pipette dispenser. I use it right after showering in the a.m. as well as a few nights a week. I put about 1/3 of a pipette-worth in my palm, press may hands together then press it into my face. I let it sink in for a minute before moving to next steps/other products.
3) What did CAIS do for you?
Deciem’s literature claims that users will see results in 5 days. What kinds of results? Well, they talk about it preventing and reversing signs of aging skin from enlarged pores to lines, to pigmentation to general lack of radiance. Five days came and went and I didn’t see any change. About two weeks in, it happened. Smaller, cleaner looking pores and an overall smoother texture and, yes, radiance. I was and continue to be impressed. I look forward to the giveaway and hearing about the winner’s experience with it.
4) Now for some randomness and fun:
-Name your most used green make-up product: Ilia Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady. I have one on my desk and one in my purse and reapply a few times a day.
-Name your most used green skincare product: Probably Pratima Neem Rose Sunscreen. I switch some stuff around in my routine, but this one gets used nearly every day.
-What non-green product do you cling to most? Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Can’t. Let. Go.
-What’s your next splurge going to be? Well, I just signed up for the Beauty Heroes box in because of Mahalo Indigo was the May product. It is luscious. I can’t wait to see what comes in June. I’m also doing some cleanser collecting, so Oskia Renaissance Cleanser may be next!
