I bet many EOS users tossed their little ball o’ balm away after the recent coverage of what it has done to some women’s lips. I have never had a reaction to the product, but decided to stop using it. No point in risking it–those pics look so painful. I decided to replace it will a little splurge–Drunk Elephant Lippe. To start: How cute is this lip balm? In addition to being an adorable little fattie of a balm, it’s absolutely loaded with goodies such as Drunk Elephant’s signature ingredient–Virgin Marula Oil and other oils like avocado, cranberry and a new one to me–Mongongo, a fruit oil which is super hydrating and provides uv protection. Peptides and algae help restore (and avoid the breakdown of) collagen and add volume.
So the ingredients hit all the bases–softening, rejuvenating, moisturizing, plumping, and protecting. But what’s it like? It feels really light yet really hydrating and plumping. And there is not a strong scent, or taste (slightly sweet) or too waxy or too greasy. It’s just right. It is a treat to use as part of an evening routine or under lip color in the morning. My only tiny suggestion to Drunk Elephant would be to make the top of balm dome shaped instead of concave so you can coat the lips more easily. Of course, I have already used it enough to remove the dip.
Did I mention the best part? DE’s Lippe is clean. The other best part? It’s available at Sephora, so it’s pretty easy to get your hands on it. And kudos to Sephora for carrying this great green brand. I also recommend checking out Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma Day Serum.
