In the Pink: Ilia Blossom Lady Lip Conditioner

Ilia Blossom Lady Lip Conditioner

I recently added Ilia Blossom Lady Lip Conditioner ($26) to my lip product collection (along with their Nobody’s Baby, but we’ll talk about that another time). You might think this muted, perfect-for-every-day pink would have been an early pick, but I went mostly with Ilia’s peaches and corals (though I do have the lipstick crayon in Call Me and that is a true pink). I think this puts me at 9 Ilia lip products, so you could say I like the brand! I actually own the kinds of lip products they make–lipsticks, crayons, lip conditioners, and one lip gloss. The lip conditioners are my favorite among favorites. They are sheer, but build-able in color and really moisturizing. I can’t say enough nice things about this brand. There is no reason to be putting gunky chemical-laden lipsticks on your mouth (and ingesting them!) when there are so many nice cleaner options out there. While Ilia dominates my stash, I do have RMS Lip Shines and think those are great as well. (See review of 3 colors here.)

Here is what is in the lip conditioners: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Seed Oil*, Beeswax (Cera Alba)*, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Sesamum Indicum (Seasame) Seed Oil*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Tocopheryl Acetate (Natural Vitamin E), Pomegranate (Punica Granatum) Seed Extract, Grape (Vitis Vinifera) Seed Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Oil. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dixoide, Iron Oxide (CI 77499, CI 77492, CI 77491), Red 7 CI15850, Red 28 CI45410, Yellow 5 CI19140. *Certified Organic Ingredients. Ingrédients Certifiés Biologiques.

Compare that to ingredients listed in a luxe sheer lipstick from European brand that shall remain nameless: Octyldodecanol, Polybutene, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Synthetic Wax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Dicalcium Phosphate,Stearalkonium Bentonite, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Propylene Carbonate, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Propylparaben, Benzyl Benzoate, Hydroxycitronellal, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Octyldodecyl Pca, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, [ (May Contain) : Ci 77019 (Mica), Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 75470 (Carmine), Ci 73360 (Red 30 Lake), Ci 45410 (Red 28 Lake), Ci 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), Ci 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake), Ci 15985 (Yellow 6 Lake), Ci 15850 (Red 6, Red 7, Red 7 Lake)].

Which would you rather ingest as you chew your lower lip in an effort to look like whatsherface in the 50 Shades books? Enough said. Now, for some fun. Below is a picture of other pinks in my stash. From left to right: Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smolder (haven’t started using this one yet), Ilia Lipstick Crayon in Call Me, Ilia Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady, and RMS Lip Shine in Sublime. So many ways to be pretty in pink!
