I recently did a bit of a recap of my first year of green blogging–check it out here. One Love Organics Morning Glory Brightening Complexion Booster made the list in the “stuff I bought based on the sample” category. I try lots of samples, but am not tempted to buy very often. I received a teeny little sample bottle of this with my beloved OLO Vitamin B Cleansing Oil (winner in my “most repurchased items category“) and it made a great impression from the get-go. Part of it was timing (winter = boo) and adding another layer of moisture was just what was needed to soothe dry wind-chapped cheeks. But it was also the promise/effect of the product. OLO describes the ingredients and effect like this, “Raspberry Leaf—a rich source of polypeptides, flavonoids, tannins and niacin—works to stimulate, tighten and tone. Peppermint and lemon balm deliver a refreshing zing of anti-inflammatory antioxidants to help brighten, enliven and de-puff. And vegan-sourced Omega 3 fatty acids smooth the appearance of fine lines and help shield skin from everyday environmental damage.” I think enliven and boost are great words to describe the effect this has on my skin. Who doesn’t want to have a tightened and brightened complexion? Sign me up.
I like to apply it over a few spritzes of toner or to mix a drop or two in with my Pratima Neem Rose Facial Sunscreen (reviewed here). These are two awesome products that are even better together–a match made in winter heaven. When applied directly to the skin it sinks in pretty fast and foundation applies very smoothly over top. There is a tad of added glow, but I set my foundation with powder so it’s all good. And you really just need a drop or two. (I never say that about anything. When the directions say one or two drops or one or two spritzes or something, I am like: Yeah, right.)
So we all know oil is having a moment in skincare. I have tried quite a few. Many of them contained rosehip and/or prickly pear seed oil which made my cheeks itch. This oil contains a mix of other oils including, organic wild raspberry leaf, organic lemon balm, and organic sweet mint, capric/caprylic triglyceride, organic essential oils of lemon, ylang ylang and peppermint. I was a bit concerned since there are so many oils in this blend. Yet, I didn’t experience any reaction to it other than added comfort from the moisture, a little glow, and some added oomph (for lack or a better term). I was especially curious about raspberry leaf and found this great article. It’s loaded with antioxidants, omegas, vitamins, and has a toning effect. Sounds wonderful to me! The scent is herbal and uplifting–perfect for a morning wake-up kind of product. I also like that OLO offers this in two sizes. Yes, it’s cheaper to get more, but it’s also nice to be able to try it for awhile at a lower price (or start small and wait for a sale to get the bigger one later). You can get a half ounce “discover size” for $29 or an ounce for $48.
In short: Another winner from One Love Organics!
