Daylight savings time happens this week and I couldn’t be happier to lose an hour of sleep. Spring is finally going to happen and after that sweet, sweet summer! Think about it: finally saying goodbye to your winter coat, sunny days, bright colors, sandals. Maybe that is why I purchased the lip crayon by Ilia in Karma Chameleon ($24) in the dead of winter. I needed something to brighten my mood. And this lippie fits the bill. It’s described at a fiery coral—definitely an accurate description, particularly if you’re fair. And if you are fair, this color will be optimal in spring and summer when you’ve got a little bronzer action going. Right now, I have a little windburn (read: pink face) action going, so I tone this Ilia lip crayon down with a bit of RMS Lip Shine in Bloom. In the photo above (on the right) you can see Ilia Karma Chameleon at full strength and toned down with a bit of RMS Beauty’s Bloom. (Read my review of RMS Lip Shines.)
Here is what’s in it:
Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Trisostearyl Citrate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnuaba) Wax*, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Fruit Oil*, Carica (Papya) Seed Oil. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Red 7 (CI15858), Iron Oxide (CI77499, CI77492, CI77491). *Certified Organic Ingredients. Ingrédients Certifiés Biologiques.
I own two of Ilia’s lip crayons and one lipstick. I’ll get to all of them at some point. I really love the texture of the lip crayons. It’s just right—they aren’t glossy, nor are they dry. They are not perfumed–another plus in my book. Ilia describes itself as a “prestige line of natural and organic beauty products that combine superior color performance and nourishing organics. All ILIA products are made with up to 85% certified organic ingredients that nourish the skin and help aid in its repair.” The line has a great reputation and it’s week-deserved. Whether you’re a label-reading greenie or not, this is a fab line. Check them out!
