It’s summer time, so let’s talk about
sweaty armpits deodorant. Specifically, The People’s Pharmacy MoM (Milk of Magnesia) Roll-on Deodorant Aluminum-free Formula. The good folks at The PP may be in the running for longest product name on this blog. They would also be the winners of fave green deodorant on this blog. This will be a quickie, but before I begin, I have to give a shout out to The Green Product Junkie, Katie. She recommended this deodorant on Twitter and I am so glad I got it. It eliminates stinky-ness and keeps me pretty dry even though it’s not an anti-antiperspirant. It also dries quickly and doesn’t stain clothing. Best of all, it is easy to apply. Green deodorants in pots are getting a lot of love. But no. I draw the line at anything that comes in a pot. I just don’t want to dig around for product, smear it on my pits, then have to scrape the remains out of my nails. Thankfully, I don’t have to! I should also add that the man of the house has used it (he thought the “MoM” was for mothers) and deemed it “good.” Why isn’t he a man of few words when discussing sports?
Here is what’s in it: Aqua (Water), Magnesium Hydroxide, Lithium Magnesium, Sodium Silicate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol
In case you are wondering what I have to compare it to, I have tried a few. Here is the run-down I shared in a recent past post:
Dr. Hauschka Fresh Deodorant (roll-on): The most
exorbitant expensive of my trials. This one doesn’t work for me because it stays wet for a long time and the floral smell somehow mixes with my body chemistry to make me smell worse than I would without any deodorant. Tom’s of Maine (stick): This was my starting point for cleaner deodorants. It didn’t do much for me. Nourish (stick): It’s sticky and gritty and thick. The worst of the bunch for me. Lavanila (stick): Worked ok. Texture was ok. Crystal Essence (roll-on): Best of this bunch–but not nearly as good as the MoM deodorant. Weleda (spray): Save yourself the money and put some alcohol and a couple of drops of essential oil in a spray bottle. Or don’t because it doesn’t work that well. Le Couvent Des Minimes (roll-on): Works pretty well; a bit too perfumed; irritated my skin with continued use.
